After Tropical Storm Lala - Chinatown, Honolulu

The morning after Tropical Storm Lala, I walked through Chinatown with my camera.
A fallen tree stretched across a familiar street. The pavement was still wet, the city quieter than usual, and people were slowly returning to their routines.
I wasn't looking to photograph destruction.
I was interested in what remained, the small traces of something that had already passed.
I return to Chinatown often because it is never quite the same. Light changes. People change. The city changes.
Sometimes slowly. Sometimes overnight.
For me, photography is a way of noticing those changes before they disappear.
