There is beauty in the mistake.
Not everything needs to be sharp.
Not everything needs to be perfect.
Not everything needs to be complete.
Wabi Sabi is the understanding that: Nothing is permanent. Nothing is perfect. Nothing is complete.
I believe in photography; this shifts everything.

What Is Imperfection in Photography?
It is a way of seeing. It is an appreciation for:
The unfinished
The unbalanced
The overlooked
The imperfect
It values what is often ignored. A frame made in passing. A gesture that wasn’t fully formed. Light that didn’t land “correctly.”
These are not failures. They are traces of life.

Why Imperfection Creates More Honest Photographs
Many photographers are taught to eliminate:
Motion blur
Grain
Missed focus
Framing inconsistencies
But when you remove all imperfection, you often remove life itself. Perfect images can feel distant. Controlled. Predictable.
Imperfect images feel human. They carry tension. They suggest movement. They leave space for interpretation.
Ask yourself: Does removing the flaw make the image stronger or just safer?

Letting Go of Control
Wabi Sabi is not about being careless. It is about being open.
When you stop trying to control everything:
You react faster
You trust instinct
You photograph what is actually happening
Instead of forcing a moment, you begin to recognize one. Instead of correcting reality, you begin to accept it.
This is where authenticity begins.

Imperfection and Finding Your Style
If you’re struggling to find your photography style, this matters.
Style is not created by consistency alone. It is revealed through what you allow. If you only allow perfection, your work will look like everyone else chasing it. If you allow imperfection, your work begins to feel like you.
Instead of asking: “How do I make this perfect?”
Try asking: “Does this feel real?”
That shift alone can change your entire approach.
Want to Experience This in Practice?
If you want to go beyond theory, this is exactly what we work on in:
Private Photography Mentorship
A one-on-one session focused on breaking habits, trusting instinct, and refining how you see.
Group Photo Walk
We photograph in real, unpredictable environments where imperfection naturally exists — and learn how to respond to it.
Fine Art Print Collection
See how these ideas translate into finished work — where imperfection becomes part of the final piece.
